After a long wait, Eli Roth is back with a new horror flick, Ice Cream Man!
It took 16 years for Eli Roth's Thanksgiving to go from a fake trailer in Grindhouse to a full-fledged movie. Following the success of the film in 2023, a sequel was already planned for 2025. However, filming was delayed. But instead of letting that stop him, Roth jumped right into another horror project this summer: Ice Cream Man!
Filming wrapped up in September, and the cast has been announced. The film stars Ari Millen (Orphan Black) as the chilling ice cream man, alongside Benjamin Byron Davis (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3), Karen Cliche (Thanksgiving), Dylan Hawco (Heartland), Sarah Abbott (Black Mirror), Shiloh O’Reilly (Thanksgiving), Kiori Mirza Waldman (Small Achievable Goals), Charlie Zeltzer (The Handmaid’s Tale), and Charlie Storey (Thanksgiving). Roth himself is also in the cast.
Ice Cream Man is fully financed by Media Capital Technologies (MCT) and The Horror Section. The story follows a seemingly perfect summer town that is thrown into chaos when an ice cream man starts serving up treats with a terrifying twist. Plot details are being kept under wraps, which only adds to the suspense! Roth directed the film from a screenplay he co-wrote with Noah Belson. It's based on an idea Roth has had for over 20 years, but which studios were hesitant to fund.
Media Capital Technologies’ Christopher Woodrow and Raj Singh are producing the film alongside Cream Productions’ Kate Harrison. Executive producers include MCT’s Kevin Frakes, Connor DiGregorio, Eli Massillon, and Lorenzo Antonucci, as well as The Horror Section’s Jon Schnaars and Holly Adams. Brandon Roberts is composing the score, with additional music by Snoop Dogg. The special effects are being handled by Steve Newburn and Adrien Morot.
Roth shared his excitement: "I couldn’t be more excited about the incredible cast we’ve assembled for Ice Cream Man. It’s surreal to see the idea I’ve had for over twenty years come to life – and with this insanely talented cast, we get to deliver a film to horror fans that’s as terrifying as I’ve always imagined."
Ice Cream Man is scheduled for a wide theatrical release in 2026.
