Le'Veon Moss, the star running back for Texas A&M, is in a crucial position ahead of the Aggies' College Football Playoff First Round game against Miami this Saturday. Moss, who missed the final six games of the season due to an ankle injury, has returned to practice, but his availability for the game remains uncertain. ESPN's Pete Thamel reported that Moss is expected to be questionable, with head coach Mike Elko stating, 'We're kind of in wait-and-see mode in that one. So, we'll see where that goes.'
Moss's absence has been felt, as Texas A&M won five of its final six games to finish with an 11-1 record. During his absence, redshirt sophomore Reuben Owens has emerged as a standout player, leading the team in rushing with 618 yards and five touchdowns on 112 carries. However, the Aggies' defense has also stepped up, allowing just 86.8 rush yards per game this season, the best mark in the ACC and the 7th best in college football.
Moss's best game of the season came against Auburn on September 27, where he rushed for 139 yards and one score. He was on track for another strong performance against Florida two weeks later before the injury. Despite the uncertainty surrounding his availability, Elko expressed confidence in Moss's return if A&M makes it to the CFP. The Aggies and Hurricanes will clash in College Station on Saturday at 12:00 PM EST, with the outcome potentially hinging on Moss's participation.
