Get ready to rev your engines, car enthusiasts! Toyota is about to unleash a beast, and it's coming sooner than you think. This week, the automotive giant is set to unveil its highly anticipated GR GT supercar, promising a thrilling experience for drivers and fans alike.
Toyota has scheduled a live-stream event, the "All-new Sports Models World Premiere," to showcase its latest creations. Mark your calendars for December 5th at 11:00 am JST (that's 3:00 pm NZST for our friends down under). During this event, we're expecting to see the debut of the Toyota GR GT and its yet-to-be-named Lexus counterpart.
To build the suspense, Toyota has already dropped a shadowy teaser photo featuring three cars. The production GR GT takes center stage, flanked by the Lexus model and what appears to be a competition version on the right, distinguished by its aggressive design and numerous air intakes.
By tweaking the image, we can spot a roll cage and Michelin Pilot Sport racing slicks on the rear car, hinting at its track-focused nature. The Lexus version boasts a more angular design, including a unique rear window.
Like the celebrated GR Yaris, the GR GT's development has been heavily influenced by its racing variant, with the road-going models drawing inspiration from the track-ready versions.
While Toyota hasn't kept the GR GT a secret, showcasing it in public throughout the year, including at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, technical details have remained scarce.
The GR GT, along with its Lexus and racing siblings, is rumored to be powered by a twin-turbo V8 engine paired with a hybrid assist system. This powerhouse will undoubtedly become the flagship model for Toyota’s Gazoo Racing performance division.
The world premiere will be live-streamed with English interpretation on the official Toyota Motor Corporation YouTube channel.
But here's where it gets controversial... Could this be the beginning of a new era for Toyota's performance division? What are your thoughts on the V8 engine choice in the age of electric vehicles? Share your opinions in the comments below!
